Big Football Day Out – Big Thank You!

For those who were able to attend the Big Football Day Out 2018 match on Saturday 12 May, thank you so much for supporting this special fundraising event.  And for those who couldn’t make it in the end – where were you?!  We missed seeing you there!!

Overall it was a fantastic occasion, with the two teams (Bridgebuilder All Stars and MK Churches United) giving their all in a closely contested game, with All Stars narrowly winning 3-2.  Spectators stayed dry while watching, but the players (and ball retrievers) did get wet in the persistent rain.  We sold a lot of raffle tickets and there was much excitement about the prizes!  It was great to see Dan Cutting’s unofficial attempt to break his own Guinness World Record…he almost did it – only 2 seconds out…but conditions were not in his favour.  One player giving more than his all was the MK Churches United goalkeeper, who fractured his hand in the first half, but carried on playing for the whole game – resulting in a painful operation a few days later!

Putting on an event like the BFDO takes a massive amount of preparation, planning and logistical support, so we were exceptionally grateful for those who volunteered and helped in any way.

Overall, the whole event was a great success.  The main purpose was to raise valuable funds for Bridgebuilder Trust and this was achieved!  We raised around £900 on the day in cash donations and raffle tickets, and with the players taking on the bulk of fundraising with their commitment to be sponsored and ‘pay and play’, we still have sponsor money trickling in.  We anticipate the total amount raised as being in the region of £3,100.

What a fantastic outcome!
