Helping schoolchildren and young people in Milton Keynes to consider their beliefs, explore Christianity and make positive life choices.
This is the core mission of MK Bridgebuilder Trust, and we see the positive impact of our work in the lives of those children and young people every day. Only recently, a child who had participated in our Guardians of Ancora sessions asked their family to take them to church and was baptised.
As a small Christian charity, we are dependent on the kindness and generosity of local people in order to continue our work in over 100 primary and secondary schools across the whole of the Milton Keynes area. But financial pressures make it difficult for individuals, churches and schools to provide the funding we need.
By leaving a gift to us in your Will, you can ensure that this vital work can continue and expand, bringing the love of God into our schools. You will be building the lasting legacy of a brighter future for our children and young people.
We’ve partnered with FreeWills.co.uk to provide all our supporters with the opportunity to make their own fully comprehensive Will for free. You can make your personalised Will online in three simple steps, from the comfort of your own home, and with live support from their Will specialists.

Leaving a legacy in your Will is one of the best ways of ensuring that we can continue our valuable work. We are a small local charity and our work is supported and paid for by donations. A gift in your Will, however small or large, can help to ensure that we can always be here for children and young people in the Milton Keynes area.
By making a Will you can ensure that your wishes, and the people and causes you care about, are provided for. After providing for your family and friends, remembering us in your Will means that we will be able to carry on our work in local schools. By leaving a gift to Bridgebuilder in your Will you can shape the future, ensuring that we are always here, bringing the word of God to the 95% of children who do not have contact with church.
Bridgebuilder is committed to being here for the children and young people of the future who need us. If you decide to leave a gift in your Will to us, you will be supporting us to make sure that we can continue our important work.
Every single gift is vital to Bridgebuilder and we appreciate any gift you may choose to leave us. Whatever the value of your gift, it will go a long way to help someone who needs us.
It will not cost you a penny during your lifetime. It is simple to do and is free from inheritance tax.
All gifts, whatever their size make a real difference. It truly is a gift of a lifetime.
We thank you in advance for making a generous, thoughtful contribution. Your gift will make a lasting and positive difference to the children and young people of the area.
Why are children and young people so crucial?
Jesus said: ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these’. Matthew 19:14
Jesus called a little child to him, and placed the child among them, And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:2-5
However, 95% of children in our UK society today do not go to church.
‘How can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? Romans 10: 14 -15
We want every young person in the Milton Keynes area to be able to make informed choices about Christian faith.
Would you therefore consider helping to send more messengers out into Milton Keynes, through leaving a gift in your Will to Bridgebuilder Trust?
How will your legacy gift help?
Your legacy can enable us to continue our work with the children and young people of the Milton Keynes area, who are so hungry for what we have to offer them. It can support the whole range of our work, from assemblies to emotional wellbeing workshops, and from Christmas Cracked to Christian Unions, for children of all faiths and none.
It could allow us to take on another schools worker to meet the growing needs in the area. The demand for our work has doubled in recent years, and the city continues to grow, yet our team is actually smaller than before.
Frequently asked questions:
What are the different types of legacies in Wills?
- Pecuniary – a specified amount of money from your estate.
- Residuary – a percentage or the whole of what is left in your estate after taxes, costs and other bequests to family and friends.
- Specific – a specific item, asset, or property.
For us as a charity, a residuary gift is the most useful, since it is not affected by changes in valuation, but any legacy, however large or small, would be of enormous value as we plan for the future.
Can leaving a gift in my Will reduce inheritance tax?
A legacy gift to a charity is free of inheritance tax and if you leave 10% or more of your whole estate to charity, rather like a tithe, it reduces the overall amount of inheritance tax your family will have to pay on your estate from 40% to 36%.
